Michael served as Charlesbank’s CEO from 1998 to 2017. Prior to co-founding the firm in 1998, he was the president of Harvard Private Capital Group, Charlesbank’s predecessor. He began his tenure at Harvard Management Company in 1986 as managing director. Before joining Harvard Management, Michael was with The Boston Consulting Group.
Michael’s philanthropic involvements include chairing the Board of Trustees of Williams College and serving on the boards of the Berklee College of Music, The Boston Foundation and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is also a co-founder of Horizons for Homeless Children. In addition, Michael is on the board of Penske Auto Group, and in 2011, he was recognized by the Outstanding Directors Exchange for his significant boardroom contributions. Michael and his wife have four children and live in Boston, MA.
