Maltego (or the “Company”) is a graphical link analysis software platform used by investigators for cybersecurity threat intelligence, law enforcement, and trust & safety use cases. Institutions such as the FBI and INTERPOL, many financial organizations, and half of the DOW 30 rely on Maltego software to visually map and connect a large volume and variety of data (e.g., external Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), third-party commercial data sources and customers’ internal proprietary data) to rapidly conduct investigations and identify threat actors. Maltego seeks to be the tool of choice for investigators, with its minimal setup requirements, ease of use, rapid time to value and diverse out-of-the-box data integrations.

Charlesbank Investment

Charlesbank’s Technology Opportunities Funds (“TOF”) acquired Maltego in March 2023. Cybersecurity, and threat intelligence in particular, has been a key thematic initiative for the TOF strategy over the last several years. As part of our thematic work, the team engaged Caleb Barlow – previously a senior executive within the team at IBM Security responsible for its global threat intelligence business – as an Executive Advisor to help pursue opportunities and advise on Maltego post-closing. Maltego represents an opportunity to invest in a growing, highly respected OSINT and cyber threat intelligence platform with strong customer relationships, multiple growth and value creation levers, and a proven management team, and we look forward to helping them pursue their next stage of growth.
