BOX Partners is a leading technology-enabled supplier of packaging, shipping, industrial supplies and related products for the e-commerce and distribution markets. Family-owned since its 1989 inception, the company has grown to one of the country’s largest wholesalers of packaging products, offering both distribution and e-commerce customers a broad product selection, the ability to integrate with IT systems and expertise at small-order fulfillment.
Investment Summary
Our 2021 investment marked the first institutional capital for the Company. In our sourcing and diligence, respectively, we leveraged the experience of Executive Advisor Pat Larmon (former CEO of Bunzl NA, an $8-9 billion packaging and janitorial-sanitation re-distributor), and then Charlesbank Advisory Director Shira Goodman (former CEO of Staples, a large BOX customer). As part of our investment, Neil Thomas, former leader of Fund VII portfolio company Trojan Battery, became CEO of BOX, helping the company gain market share with new product categories and geographies and optimizing and broadening its use of e-commerce platforms.
