Daniel A. Wegiel

Dan joined Charlesbank in 2020 and serves as a generalist operating partner. In that capacity, he works alongside our CEOs and C-level teams to develop and execute their long-term strategies and value creation plans. In addition, he leads or supports many of our portfolio companies’ value creation initiatives, spanning organic growth and operational efficiency efforts.

Dan came to Charlesbank after seven years at Panera Bread, where he most recently served as chief growth & strategy officer. He joined Panera in 2013, where he served as the general manager of its portfolio of high-growth businesses. He was also responsible for the company’s overall strategy and value creation plan, in addition to leading the core functions of marketing, digital and ecommerce, product development, category management and pricing.

Prior to Panera, he joined Staples in 2001 and spent the next 13 years in a variety of roles, including merchandising, supply chain, retail operations and strategy. During his time there, he led the company’s retail turnaround strategy, launched the merchandising portfolio management and new business development functions, and led the company’s largest product portfolios. He began his career as a strategy consultant at Alliance Consulting Group.

Dan lives in Westborough, MA with his wife and two daughters. In his free time, he enjoys international travel, reading and spending time with his family.
